Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some questions that we often get asked. If your question isn't answered below, please contact us and we will answer it for you.
As a specialised builder we use the highest quality design, materials and contractors. This not only ensures the quality of our product but its longevity.
You will always be able to talk directly to the builder. When your project commences you will be introduced to three key people in our company, the Builder, the Team Leader who will run your project, and the Project Coordinator who will be your central point of contact. The Builder will have overall responsibility for your project, will be on site daily and will contact you weekly regarding progress. On a day-to-day basis the Team Leader will be on site running your job and discussing issues with you. The Project Coordinator will be in regular contact with you to keep you up to date with the overall project and discussing financial issues and your choices for all the various colour and product specifications.
While we specialise in unique architectural homes based on clients own plans we do have a number of designs that we have created and constructed previously that are available for new clients to access.
The best way to start your project is with a piece of graph paper, a ruler and a tape measure. Drawing your ideas will help consolidate your thinking and give us a starting point to understand what you want to achieve. Most importantly it also allows us to start the estimating process so you can achieve the balance between size, design, specifications and cost. Once you have a plan of what you want we will meet with you and start guiding you through the process.
At handover we will issue you with a folder that will include all your product and service warranties. During the early planning and discussion phase we will provide you with estimated time frames for your project. Variations are a normal part of any construction project as it is nearly impossible to visualise every detail on a plan. To try and minimise this we will go through every detail with you before the project starts to ensure we have a common understanding and everything has been covered to the best of both our knowledge. We are happy to provide varying levels of completion from very basic structure only (to comply with BSA* standards) that allow you to undertake many of the final tasks yourself, to full turnkey, ready to occupy solutions.
Ultimately you will. Initially by drawing your ideas and then working with our draftsman and builder to come up with a final plan that is the right mix of design features, materials and practicality to give you the home you want at the cost you can afford.
After completion of the project, what service do you provide in follow-up?
Can I talk directly to the builder?
Do you offer design and construct packages?
How do we go about getting our project started?
Prior to completion our builder will formally examine the building with you and arrange for any additional work required before handover.
Our contract includes a standard defects liability period of 6 months that is backed up by our formal agreements with our sub contractors. The standard BSA construction Insurance covers your building for seven years.
As our reputation is our greatest asset we will always strive to ensure any of your concerns are addressed as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
What guaranteed construction timeframe can you offer?
Once you decide to go ahead with the construction we will create a detailed project plan for your home that will take into account the work involved and your living arrangements. Based on this project plan we will commit to agreed timeframes in the construction contract.
What happens if we want to make a variation during construction?
As the need for changes emerge we will discuss options and impacts with you so you can make an informed decision on how to proceed.
As we consider this a normal part of the building process we do not aim to unreasonably financially penalise you for changes. The standard process for costing changes will be included in your contract and discussed with you before you sign. In general terms changes are charged at cost with a minimal overhead charge.
